This large-scale wall hanging is a hand-painted work on textile.
The lower section bears the signature “Agujari Tito,”
corresponding to the 19th-century Italian painter Tito Agujari (1834–1908).
Tito Agujari was a noted portrait and history painter active in Venice and Trieste.
He is also known to have produced designs for tapestry workshops,
often depicting mythological or allegorical subjects.
This composition is commonly referred to as “Venus Presenting Arms to Aeneas”
(Venezia consegna Enea alle armi), a theme derived from classical literature.
The scene features a female figure holding a spear, her posture both elegant and symbolic.
She is surrounded by several putti, including one figure holding a sword,
which enhances the narrative tension and allegorical depth.
A finely detailed floral border frames the composition,
adding both structure and decorative richness.
Stylistically, the work blends the idealized aesthetics
of the Renaissance with the dynamic movement
