This pair of tapestries is in the French Aubusson style,
with a design derived from cartoons created by
the Spanish painter Francisco de Goya (1775–1792)
for the Royal Tapestry Manufactory.
They depict the pastoral scenes that were characteristic of the late 18th century,
combining both decorative appeal and narrative richness,
and expressing a gentle, poetic vision of everyday life.
Refined by the passage of time, the tapestries have developed a warm and graceful patina.
They are well suited for use on a main feature wall in a living room, along staircases,
or within double-height and classically styled interiors.
