L 198 W 49 H 102 cm

Designed in the 1930s by French artist André Le Picard,
this solid oak sideboard beautifully merges the principles
of the Seiz Breur movement with the refined elegance of Art Deco design.
Constructed from robust solid oak, the piece features clean,
minimalist lines while balancing decorative appeal and functional integrity.
The central cabinet doors are adorned with gracefully swirling carvings
that symbolize the fusion of Breton cultural heritage and organic motifs.
On either side, symmetrical storage compartments
and a series of drawers provide ample functionality.
The sideboard rests on oval-shaped feet,
lending a grounded and harmonious silhouette to the entire structure.
This piece is more than a practical furnishing—
it is a testament to the enduring spirit of Brittany’s cultural identity and artistic ideals.
Whether placed in a home, gallery, or refined commercial setting, it stands as a compelling visual centerpiece.
André Le Picard (1894–1954)
André Le Picard was a French artist, sculptor, and furniture designer active during the first half of the 20th century. He was a member of Seiz Breur, a prominent art collective based in Brittany.
The Seiz Breur movement, deeply influenced by the Arts and Crafts tradition, advocated for a revival of local craftsmanship combined with modernist design. It emphasized that art should be rooted in everyday function and cultural identity.
Le Picard’s works are known for their dialogue between sculptural expression and material presence, often incorporating symbolic totems and natural forms into furniture design—offering an aesthetic that is both rustic and richly expressive.
